woot.  i'm on an efficient one-post-every-three-months schedule, which should tell you how interesting my life really is.  instead i shall pretend that i am so incredibly busy that there is no possible way to let everyone in on all the incredible details of my fantastic life.

anyway, the past two weeks i've been on tour with u choir, and oh my bejeesus what an AMAZING (quoth jess) time.  i don't think that i have had that much fun, sung so much, laughed so much, slept so much, cried so much, or given so much in such a short amount of time...ever.  i have to honestly say that i love 98% of the people in my choir.  kelly counts as 2% by himself because he's fat and old.  HA.

i'm so sad that i only had one semester to be a part of this amazing group, but what a semester.  everyone worked SO hard and is so talented; i couldn't believe the level of dedication that can be present in 50 people all directed to the same purpose.  i'll never have to opportunity to be in a group of that caliber again, because tomorrow i have to grow up.

but we had a SHITLOAD of laughs too...

hey.  i know it's been, oh i dunno...about three months since my last post, but julia just started hers and what great inspiration to update the useless-information-on-kate page.  we'll see if i actually keep this one up.  gotta go though...an afternoon/evening in the ER really wears you out....

hi.  i cannot contain my excitement.  in three nights (THREE NIGHTS!) i will be sleeping in air conditioning in a nice soft bed in my own country where there are NOT giant cockroaches climbing on you in your sleep.  i really cannot wait.  i was really looking forward to this week off, and steve and i had big plans to do all sorts of tourist-y stuff and drink and what-not, but alas, all plans of having fun have gone awry.

first, the sister of my host mother is very very sick, and dying of cancer in the hospital.  extremely sad and i feel like a huge burden because uralda has to worry about me when she shouldn't have to worry about anything but her family.  second, steve got really sick and almost had to go to the ER because he couldn't breathe at all...not cool.  another uncool thing is that in BROAD DAYLIGHT on a SATURDAY AFTERNOON steve's host family's house got robbed, and the ladrones stole ALL his money (about $250) and his cd player.  very not cool.  so, for the past 4 days we've basically been sitting around his house, playing cards and eating, because he can't breathe well enough to go anywhere, and we don't have money.  haha.  so funny.  we want to go home so bad!

we're still having fun though, and having to act as a translator between steve and people who only speak spanish has really improved my language skills.  plus, my brother's 25th birthday was saturday, yay for him, i miss him in LA.  and ooooh!  other cool news from home...i got a letter asking me for a call-back audition for u-choir!!  yay!  okay, i must go.  my next post will be written from the united states of america, or possibly never.  ciao everyone, i miss you and i am coming home.  MWAH!

ten more nights.  yep, that's all until i'm back in the good u.s. of a.  i don't think i've ever been more excited about my own country.  i'm finished with one of my classes and the other one ends on friday.  our last week here is just going to be tourist-y, shopping, sightseeing, and hopefully a WHOLE lotta booze.

so this weekend steve and i went to bavaro, on the east side of the island, to an all-inclusive resort.  if you have never been to one of these things (conveniently located in a pristine tropical beach paradise) you are missing out on days and nights of sun, plam trees and gluttony.  we spent 3 glorious days on the beach, just laying around, swimming, snorkeling, drinking pina colada after cuba libre after beer after bahama mama after god knows what and EATING!!  we ate...get this...ELEVEN meals in not even three whole days...kind of ridiculous, but oh so amazing.  we really didn't want to leave, and were even thinking about trying to go back next week, but we really can't afford it.  it was such a great time, doing NOTHING except gorging ourselves...actually it was kind of gross...but ya know, in that good way.

oh damn.  my time is up on this computer.  i hope you guys all have an awesome day and email me weiners.  i can't wait to get home and go OUT!  even though i will probably refuse to pay the ridiculous alcohol prices there....for about 5 minutes.  oh, and getting carded? pshhaw.  alright guys.  later!

hey dudes.  still in the DR, but kinda running out of money...hmmmmm...not cool at all.  i WAS waiting for a $1000 scholarship to come in, but is that going to happen before i even get back?  well, let's all hope so.  "ojala que yo reciba mi dinero antes de yo vuelvo a los estados unidos."  yes, folks, subjunctive.

everything is going fine here (except the money thing) and the class thing.  there was a huge fiasco with the hours of my classes and all this crap, it was ridiculous.  i'm here for 2 1/2 more weeks, but apparently (due to stupid scheduling) i'll have completed all my classroom hours for one of my classes TOMORROW.  yeah, crazy.  what am i going to do for 2 more weeks, and am i not paying to learn spanish?  eeek!  we got it figured out though, i get to join a REAL class (as in, with other people in it) for just the learning experience, it won't count as a grade or anything.  i'll probably learn more in that than my other class, because dominicans are really weird, and they don't stay on task very well....especially when your professor always wants to talk about sex.  yeah, weird.

but i really am having an awesome time.  it's so easy to go places here, and so cheap.  steve and i are heading to bavaro this weekend (the place where they take photos for calendars and screen savers) to have the all-inclusive resort experience.  it's going to ROCK!  the beach, the booze, the FOOD the snorkeling!!! it's our intensive-vacation within our other vacation (meaning this whole trip).

i'm missing everyone a lot...keep up the emails and if you're feeling extremely generous, buy a phone card and dial 809-961-9993.  don't worry, it's a cell so no weird spanish person will answer.  i'm getting kicked off the computer.  gotta go bye ;)
